Contract Igo. 7P-2 <br />TS/2 <br />Pla.ntin* Soil: Planting soil shall be fertile, natural black <br />loam with commercial fertilizer added and a high organic con- <br />tent. tent. During planting operations the planting: soil should be <br />mixed with the natural soil in which the plants are located. <br />C. Stakes: All trees shall be staked securely with two standard <br />steel stakes in a manner approved by the owner. <br />2.02 PLA ,;TI u: <br />A. Planting operations: Planting operations shall be conducted <br />under favorable weather conditions, according to the best <br />practices of the profession. <br />Layout of Major planting: The owner shall approve all plant <br />locations on the site prior to planting. <br />C. Plant holes: Did: hole a foot larger than fiber pot or ball <br />of earth around roots. Remove and dispose of excess soils <br />off site. <br />D. Setting plants: Set plants at same relationship to finished <br />grade as they bore to the ground from which they were dug. <br />Use planting soil mixed with existing soil to backfill plants, <br />watering thoroughly when the hole is approximately 2/3 full. <br />Set trees plumb and tamp planting soil solidly around the ball <br />and roots. <br />Form shallow saucer for watering and mulch with a 3" layer of <br />wood chips. -rater all plants thoroughly after planting. <br />E. Pruning: Prune new plants as directed by the owner. Remove <br />all dead or broken material. <br />2.03 1.:A I I'I' TEA,%AI <br />Although the owner will make every effort to water and maintain <br />the plantings pronerly, the responsibility for insuring proper <br />care during the guarantee period is solely that of the Contractor. <br />Provisions of the guarantee will not be waived due to improper <br />maintenance. <br />2.04 ACCLP�TA:,CE AI%:D CLARA:-' 1'�� : <br />The owner will inspect all planting immediately upon completion. <br />Acceptance by the owner will constitute the beginning of the <br />guarantee period. <br />All plant material shall be guaranteed by the Contractor for a <br />period of one full year from the date of acceptance to be in p%ood, <br />healthy and flourishing condition. <br />the Contractor shall replace, without cost to the owner, and as <br />0139 <br />
