STAFF REPORT
TO:Parks & Recreation Commission
FROM:Bryce Shearen, CPRE, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Director
DATE:September 7, 2023
RE:Park Logos
ACTION REQUESTED
A motion to approve the park logo designs as the new official Park Logos, or to make final edits
to the proposed designs.
BACKGROUND
In 2022, the Parks & Recreation Commission discussed creating individual park logos that could
be used for multiple different purposes to help increase the identity of the Little Canada parks
system. A few ideas that were discussed that these images could be used for were park
wayfinding signage, stickers, creating a park passport, geocaching, and possibly other branded
items. They could also be included in the newsletter, social media, and website communications
to help identify each park. There were a few draft concept designs presented to the Commission
to gauge the interest to see if this was something of interest.
There was support from the Parks & Recreation Commission to move forward with creating park
logos. Staff worked with a graphic designer to have logos created for the following parks:
Fire Barns Skate Park Firefighters Historical Trail Gervais Mill Park
Nadeau Wildlife Area Pioneer Park Rondeau Park
Spooner Park Thunder Bay Park Veterans Memorial Park
Attached are the updated designs that were edited with the feedback from the Parks & Recreation
Commission members at the June 2023 Parks & Recreation Commission meeting.
Staff would like feedback on Pioneer Park’s Logo, and whether to wait for the completion of the
new Pioneer Park playground or if the commission likes the proposed design.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Commission discuss the park logos that have been provided and if the
Commissioners would like to see any changes to the designs or if Commissioners would like to
move forward with approving the designs.
ATTACHMENTS
DRAFT 2 Park Logo Designs
