and funds have been dedicated in the Parkland Acquisition Capital Fund to purchase the property <br />if it were to ever become available. Staff has recently been in discussion with the property owner <br />and his potential willingness to sell the property to the City. Staff is currently working on <br />obtaining an appraisal for the property. <br />Since there appears to be a willingness from the property owner to sell, staff has been working <br />on what the potential space could be used for if acquired. Identified in the City’s Comprehensive <br />Plan, Parks System Master Plan, Pioneer Park Phase I Master Plan, and Strategic Plan are <br />multiple areas discussing developing a high-quality building facility to meet the needs of the <br />community. For example, one of the specific recommendations from the Park System Master <br />Plan is: <br />1.5.2. Explore the development of a multi-purpose park building that can be used as an <br />educational/ programming facility that contributes to strengthening the community's <br />visual character. <br />While this is still in the infant stage, staff wanted to present some preliminary designs of the <br />potential area to the Parks & Recreation Commission to get some initial feedback on the <br />potential designs. Attached are four potential preliminary designs that could work within the <br />space if acquired.
