STAFF REPORT
TO:Parks & Recreation Commission
FROM:Steven Anderson, Parks and Recreation Director
DATE:June 6, 2024
RE:Pioneer Park Play Node Punchlist Update
ACTION REQUESTED
No action is requested.
BACKGROUND
A punchlist was put together earlier this spring with items that need to be finished or repaired.
The Pioneer Park play node project punchlist continues to be whittled down.
Some work was never completed before the first snow and cold temperatures and the bulk of that
work revolves around the water feature. There are still some components that are being touched
up and there is still no timeline on when this will open.
Other items that need attention are the restoration of the grass along the path of the drain tile that
was installed south and west of the soccer field. City staff were able to purchase and lay sod at
the southwest corner to get the field in playable condition for affiliated groups. This was
expected and is normal for a project of this size that went as late into the season as it did.
Metro-INET assisted the City with the camera portion of the project and work is completed.
There are two cameras that have visual coverage of the playnode and surrounding infrastructure
ie. Parking lot, trails, courts.
Some of the sidewalk and trail work needs to be redone due to concrete popouts, areas of asphalt
holding water, or a lip being created between some old and new sidewalk.
Overall, none of the items are too severe and the playnode is getting lots of use. Staff is hopeful
that the contractor can get most of the items completed before July.
