the amount of dead grass along driveway edges due to repeated driving over the edge of the driveway.
Since the same curb cut width had been in the code for so long, many driveways are that size and
would need to be narrowed in order to meet the current zoning code requirement when they are
replaced. This encourages people not to replace driveways in a timely manner or not get permits
because they do not want to make their driveway narrower. Residents would also have to add concrete
curbing along the street to fill in the narrower driveway apron.

Staff is proposing to return the allowed driveway curb cut width to 24 feet.

RECOMMENDATION
Discuss the proposed zoning code amendments to Chapters 904, 914 and 915 for garage size and
driveway curb cut width. Staff requests the Planning Commission recommend approval of the
proposed zoning code amendments.

Attachments:
1. Comment from Ann Gansen
2. Proposed Ordinance 898
