MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br /> <br />JANUARY 11, 2024 <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the City Council of Little Canada, <br />Minnesota was convened on the 11th day of January, 2024 in the Council Chambers of the City <br />Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br /> <br />Chair Taelor Johnson called the meeting to order at 5:37 p.m. and the following members of the <br />Planning Commission were present at roll call: <br /> <br />PLANNING COMMISSION: Boe, Carlson-Clark, Haluptzok, Johnson, Kulousek, Masrud, <br />Thorson, and Youth Commissioner Lum <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: Community Development Director/ Planner Corrin Wendell <br /> <br /> <br />ADOPT AGENDA <br />The agenda was approved as presented. <br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Commissioner Masrud made a motion to approve the December 14, 2023 Planning Commission <br />minutes as submitted. Commissioner Boe seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously <br />approved. <br /> <br /> <br />OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br />No comments. <br /> <br /> <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS: VARIANCE AMENDMENT – 3354 RICE STREET – CASE <br />#1424 <br />The Community Development Director presented a variance amendment application for the <br />property at 3354 Rice Street. She provided background noting that a variance was issued in <br />2019 to allow additional signage and that was supposed to sunset in February of 2021. Caribou <br />has submitted this request to allow the extension of the previously granted variance for an <br />additional five years, which would then expire December 31, 2029. She reviewed the variance <br />findings and stated that staff supports the extension as requested. She stated that the City <br />Council will hold a public hearing for this request at its January 24th meeting and asked the <br />Commission to consider the request tonight. <br /> <br />Commissioner Masrud referenced the sunset date of 2021 and asked how this was allowed to <br />continue until this time without an extension request.
