<br /> MINUTES <br /> City Council <br /> June 11, 19II0 <br /> Amending Mrs. Scalze reported that the Recreation Director has requested that <br /> Park the Park Ordinance be amended so that glass bottles and containers are <br /> Ordinance prohibited in ~ ty parks. They are having trouble with broken glass <br /> from these containers. <br /> The Recreation Director is also requesting that the ordinance show that <br /> City parks are closed from one-half hour before sunrise to one-half <br /> hour after sunset. This would cause the City parks to be closed in <br /> the same manner as County parks. <br /> Councilman Fahey stated that he objected to the manner of setting park <br /> hours. Fahey felt this could cause problems with people disagreeing <br /> on the time of sunset or sunrise. <br /> Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br /> RESOLUTION N0. 80-6-223 - AMENDING TI1E PARK ORDINANCE TO <br /> CONTAIN THE PROVISION FOR "NO GLASS CONTAINERS OR BOTTLES <br /> IN THE PARK" AND SETTING THE HOURS CITY PARKS ARE CLOSED <br /> FROM ONE-HALF HOUR AFTER SUNSET UNTIL ONE-HALF HOUR BEFORE <br /> SUNRISE <br /> The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Hanson. <br /> Ayes (3) Scalze, Hanson, Nadeau. <br /> Nay es (1). Mr. Fahey stated that he was only opposed to the portion <br /> of the motion dealing with the hours that City parks would be closed. <br /> Resolution declared adopted. <br /> This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 6, Page 142. <br /> Park Mrs. Scalze reported that the Park Commission will be hiring a puppet <br /> Commission wagon to perform in Spooner Park one day per week. The cost will be <br /> Report $10 per performance. Also in August the Park Commission has arranged <br /> fora Roseville band to perform in Spooner Park. <br /> Scalze informed the Council that the Park Commission would like to hire <br /> a theatre group from Lakewood Community College to perform in Spooner <br /> Park. They will perform two nights per week for as many times as <br /> the Park Commission requests. The cost wi11 be $900.00. If this <br /> works out, there is the possibility of getting a grant in the future <br /> to cover such costs. <br /> Mr. Hanson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br /> RESOLUTION N0. 80-6-224 - AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF <br /> 900.00 FOR THE LAKEWOOD COMMUNITY COLLEGE THEATRE GROUP <br /> TO PERFORM IN SPOONER PARK <br /> The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mrs. Scalze. <br /> Ayes (4) Hanson, Scalze, Nadeau, Fahey. <br /> Naves (0). <br /> Resolution declared adopted. <br /> This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 6, Page 143. <br /> Page -18- <br /> <br />
