MINUTES <br />City Council <br />January 7, 1981 <br />Weed Mayor Hanson reported to the Council that he is appointing Mr. Tom <br />Inspector Florwath as the City's Weed Inspector in conjunction with Mr. hlorwath's <br />activities as the Tree Inspector. <br />The Weed Inspector has a projected 1981 budget of $300, lianson stated <br />that Mr. Horwath will be paid on a per-ca11 basis for this position. <br />Fire Mayor Hanson stated that Carl Spooner is presently the City's Fire <br />Marshall Marshall. Hanson also commented that the Fire Marshall has been <br />Appointment checking to determine that there are no hazardous wood storage <br />situations in the City. <br />Councilman Fahey suggested that the City Flttorney should investigate <br />the possibility of the City's adopting a sprinkler system ordinance. <br />Mr. Spooner reported to the Council that the firm installing a sprinkler <br />system and the company buying the system are responsible for the operation <br />of the system. Mr. Spooner informed the Council that the State has told <br />him that anyone inspecting a sprinkler system assumes the responsibility <br />for the proper operation of that system. <br />The City Clerk commented that the City needs someone to review the <br />sprinkler system plan that is submitted by a developere <br />Councilman Fahey stated that the architect on the project should review <br />the plan. <br />The Council was unclear if there was a sprinkler system requirement in <br />the Uniform Building Code. <br />Mr. Nusnick informed the Council that the installation of a spr9nkler <br />system is usually governed by insurance companies and lenders, and their <br />requirements are usually higher than local government. <br />Councilman Fahey suggested that the Fire Marshall discuss with the Fire <br />Department what bui7dings the Fire Department feels should have sprinkler <br />sy~tems. Then, perhaps, the Attorney cou7d look into model ordinances. <br /> Mr. Hanson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br /> RESOLUTION N0. 81-1-14 - APPOINTING MR. CARL SPOONER AS <br /> THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADFl'S FIRE MARSHALL FOR THE YEAR 1981 <br /> The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mrs. Scalze. <br /> Flyes (5) Hanson, Scalze, Nardini, Fahey, Forsberg. <br /> Nayes (0). <br /> Resolution declared adopted. <br /> This reso1ution appears in Resolution Bool< No. 7, Page 7. <br />Review Of Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />Sprinkler <br />System RESOLUTION N0. 81-1-15 - DIRECTING THE FIRE MARSHALL TO REVIEW <br />Codes THE CURRENT STFlTE FIRE CODE WITH REGARD TO SPRINKLER SYSTEMS AND <br /> TO OBTAIN RECOMMENDFlTIONS FROM THE FIRE DEPFlR7MENT REGARDING THETR <br /> FEELINGS ON THE REQUIREMENT OF SPRINKLER SYSTEMS IPl CERTAIN TYPES <br /> Page -6- <br />
