MINUTES
Ci~y Council
January 7, 1981
Penalty On The City Clerk reported that Mr. Flusnick received a penalty in the
Husnick amount of $548.49 on his Utility Statement. The invoice was not
Water Bill paid within the 30 day bil7ing period, and this was the reason for
the penalty charge.
The Clerk also informed the Counci1 that Mr. Husnick claims that he
did not receive the Utility Statement and when he received the second
statement with the penalty charge, he promptly paid the bill at that
time. Mr. Husnick has requested that the penalty charge be waived
as he did not receive the first bill. The Clerk also reported that
this is the first time Mr. Husnick has been late in paying his water
bill.
Mr. Husnick reported to the Council that he had a change of address a
little over a year ago. He sent notices of the change to all of his
creditors, but apparently the City either never recefved a notice or
the change was not recorded. The Post Office will only forward mail
for one year, and that is probably the reason that Mr. Husnick clid not
receive his water bill.
Mr. Husnick asked that in the future perhaps the City staff could remind
him of a water bill that has not been paid before the pena7ty is charged.
Mr. Fahey commented that in the past the Council has reduced the size of
a penalty for someone who was late in paying their bill, however, that
was under different circumstances than this situation.
Councilman Fahey also stated that the City cannot set a policy of calling
everyone and reminding them to pay their utility bill when their payment
is late.
Councilman Forsberg stated that he feels the penalty shou7d be waived in
this case due to Mr. Husnick past record of payment.
Mr. Forsberg introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION P10. II7-1-19 - WAIVING THE PENALTY CHARGE OF $548.49
ON THE HUSNICK UTILITY STFlTEMENT
The foregoing resolution was du7y seconded by Mrs. Nardini.
Ayes (5j Forsberg, Nardini, Hanson, Scalze, Fahey.
Nayes (0~.
Resolution declared adopted,
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 7, Page 9.
Fire Dept.
