Minutes: City Council July 2, 1981 Continued The City Council reviewed the lease agreement pertaining to school property that is leased to the City of Little Canada for park~pur- :(0-01-382) pose. Exhibit "A" of the agreement is a map which indicates the Park Area. The boundary lines of the park area were not clear as to what portion of land is actually used for Park. It was suggested that a new map be drawn. In the discussion on the agreement it was pointed out that the City should follow the procedures as set forth in the agreement especially when it pertains to proposed improvements. The School Board or an agent of the School Board will review such plans. A particular concern of the School District was the proposed paving of a parking lot next to the ball fields. (The proposed parking 1ot was marked "A" on the Spooner Park map.) The School District was concerned with vehicular traffic in this area when children are playing. It was suggested that a qate be installed on the South End of the Gilbertson Field parking lot. (Gilbertson Field Parking Lot was marked "B" on the Spooner Park map.) There is a gate on the north end of the Gilbertson Field Parkinq lot but no one knows when the gate is closed. It was also suggested that the driveway from the Gilbertson Field parkinq lot to Parking lot "A" be posted and parking lot"A" be posted or curbed. Estimated cost of the total posting-paving and gate installation appears to be less than $10,000. (Each project is a separate bid.) There was a discussion concerning the use of the park for Canadian Days celebration. It was the opinion of the School District that the City should address thos~ problems. Mr. F'ahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption. RESOLUTION NO. 81-7-330 (283-406) BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA AS FOLLOWS: The Park Commission is hereby authorized and directed to pur- chase and install a gate on the South end of the Gilbertson Fie1d parking lot and such purchase and installation be made by informal bids. 2. The Park Commission is hereby authorized and directed to pur- chase and install fence post similar to the fence post in front of Eli School. The purchase and installation of such post be negotiated with Advent Custom Homes and cost not to exceed the price of previous contract. 3. The installation of posts on the driveway from Gilbertson Field Parking lot to Par]<ing Lot "A" and the posting or curbing of Parking Lot "A" be mutually agreed upon between the School District and the Park Commission. The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mrs. Scalze. Ayes - 4- Fahey, Scalze, Nardini and Hanson. Nayes -0 - Resolution declared adopted.
