MINUTES
City Council
October 7, 1981
Mary House The Flttorney reported that Mr. fahey and Mrs. Sca1ze and himself inet
with the ladies of Mary Nouse and Mr. Cody and made a proposal to them
for the purchase of their property on which the City's warming house
is located. Mary House was offered $1,000 for the property in addition
to the City's putting up a fence an~ agreeing to regulate the music,
lighting, hours of operation of the rink and agreeing to move the
electrical box inside so that the lights cannot be turned on without
supervision.
The $1,000 was turned down, but the ladies of Mary House came back with
a figure of $2,500. They would also like the piece of property they
are selling to only extend ten feet to the east of the building line,
and 20 feet to the south end. They would also like the fence to be
a part of the east side of the rink and measure six feet above the top
of the rink wall in order to prevent pucks from flying onto their
property. The Attorney stated that he would get someone to give the
City some ideas for the construction of such a fence.
The Attorney stated that he informed the ladies of Mary House that he
would present these terms to the Council for their action.
The Attorney also stated that the ladies were concerned that some of
these terms would not last long enough to protect them in the future.
The Attorney stated that these terms could be made a part of the
purchase agreement on the property.
Mr. forsberg introduced the fiollowing resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 51-10-595 - DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY
TO DRAW UP AN AGREEMENT TO PURCHASE THE MARY FIOUSE
PROPERTY FOR $2,500 AND FURTHER INSTRUCTING 1"HE CITY
ENGINEER TO STAKE OUT THE PROPERTY IN QUESTION
7he foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mrs. Nardini.
qyes (5) Forsberg, Nardini, Hanson, Scalze, fahey.
Nayes (0).
Resolut~on declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 7, Page 386.
The Attorney stated that he could draw up a purchase agreement in about
a week. It will take some time for the Mary House's attorney to review
the agreement.
Petersen Mrs. Nardini reported that MGM Liquors has taken over the Petersen
Liquor liquor store. However, the City has not received an application for
License the transfer of the liquor 1icense.
The City Clerk stated that Petersen could have hired MGM to run the
store and this was not a problem for the City to be involved in.
Page -26-
