MINUTES
City Council
February 10~ 1982
Air Mr. Forsberg stated that he would like to table action on the purchase
Compressor of an air compressor for two weeks, Forsberg stated that he would like
to check with other cornpanies and did not like the correspondence
received £rom one o£ the companies stating that they could sel"1 the
City a new compressor at a less cost than a used compressor.
Mayor Hanson asked if the City had to move on the bids the City
has received for an air compressor.
Hoger Ulanzer indicated that the bids were sea].ed bids authorized
by the City Council but there was no publication of 'bidding.
Mr. Fahey stated that he was uncomfortable with putting o££ acting
on the bids already received.
Roger Glan2er stated that he has reviewed the bids and they appear
to be in order. The bids were in line with the speci£ications that
were submitted to tYze bidders,
Ms~. Forsberg commented that there are a lot of small businesses
going under and it shoul.d be possible to pick up a used air compressor
in this way.
k2oger Ulanzer informed ihe Council that due to the money that is
ixivested in the used compressors and with the prices that factories
are selling their equipment today~ it is cheaper to pick up a new
compressor than a used one.
Mr, F'ahey asked Roger GLanzer how long the prices quoted by the bidders
are good for. Mr. Ulanzer stated that he did not know, Glanzer also
in£ormed the Council that the compressor will be used as a back up
power supply for the City~s lift stations and the City needs a good
one,
Mr, Forsberg pointed out that the cost of the air compressor will be
charged against one of the improvements in the City.
Fahey stated that he does not want to put this off indefinitely,
Council discussed the possibility that the City would need a larger
compressor than what was bid. Mr, Glanzer did not feel the City wou7.d
ever have need for a larger compressor than the one presently being
considered.
Mr. Forsberg introduced the fo:ll.owing resolution and moved its adoption:
RESULUTION N0. 82-2-8Lt -'reBLING ACTION ON THE BIDS
FOR AN ATR COMPRESSOR FOR TWO WEEKS
The £oregoing resolutiion wa~ uul.y 5econded by Mrs. Scalze.
pyes (5) Forsberg, Scalze, Hanson, Fahey, Narclini,
Nayes (0).
