MI~UTES <br />CiCy Counci.l <br />Peb. 9, 19~3 <br />Hammond Mr.Car7.ey reported that hewrote a Lettc:r to Mr.. tlammond and another <br />Matter (ConC.) Co the City's contractor stating that the City cvould deduct tkie <br />cost of cleaning the edges ot the ditch from [he contractor's payment. <br />Mr. Carley stated that the contractor could have completed thi.s worlc <br />last fa11, but he did not. <br />Mrs. Nardini commented Chat Mr. Hammond's letter makes reference to <br />brush and she was under the impressi.on that i.t was only ditch <br />trim that o~as i.nvolved. The Engineer r.epl:i.ed that Chere was some <br />brush arounct the edge of the ditch. The Engineer stated that Mr. <br />I-lammond made a deal wi.th Julian Johnson to dc some more ioorlc Chan <br />just the di.tch trim, but this was over and above what the Ci.ty agreect <br />to. The Iingineer submi.tCed to the Counci.l. copies of the letter.s to <br />P4r. }lammond and [he Ci.ty contractor. <br />Mr. Pahey aslced if the City haci anyone on the job monitoring the <br />wortc. The Pn~;ineer replied that i.[ di.d. }~~ahey aslced if the cost of <br />this person's time was charged aga:inst Sulian Johnson. The Bngineer <br />replied that it was. <br />MSA i'unds The lingi.neer reported that. he spoke wtith the State Aid Engineer and <br />Traf:fic was informed that Stat e Ai.d funds cannot be used o n the traffi.c <br />Signals si.gn al at Ri.ce Str.eet and T4innesota Avenue as this i.s not a StaCe <br /> Ai.d street. <br />A~,enda <br />ZCem No. 9 Mr.s. Scalze commenteci that she thou~ht the ci.Cy's participati.on i.n <br /> the traffi.c signal ~vas 25%. <br />Mrs. Nardini. commented at the last meeting on this subject Roseville <br />indi.cated that they did not want to par.ti.cipate zn the cost. Nardi.ni. <br />aslced if this was just for Che cost of temporary signals. <br />The Ci.ty Clerk reported that Mayor Hanson indi.cated that the business <br />people may be wiLl.ing to pay 100% of the cost of the temporary <br />signals. The Clerlc reported that Rosevill.e i.s willing to pay thezr <br />share of the permanent signals. The Clerlc further reported that the <br />busiriesses have i.ndicated that they would put their share of the <br />cost of temporary signals towards the permanent signals i.f: it wi.il <br />speed the pr.ocess up. <br />Mr. Porsberg reported that the cost of temporary signals is about <br />$30,000 and the cost of, permanent signals from $100,000 to ~$125,000. <br />Mr. Porsberg suggested [hat the Counci.l leC Mayor Ilanson pursue the <br />mattee.
