The City is required to adopt the final property tax levy and certify the amount to Ramsey County on or before December 28th of each year. This year, the meeting at which the budget and levy were discussed, and public input allowed was held on December 4th. Mission Statement The City of Little Canada adopted a mission statement in 2014 to guide the City Council and staff in future policy decisions. The statement reads as follows: We endeavor to provide high-quality, cost-effective services which meet the needs of our customers, delivered in a manner consistent with a friendly and responsive small-town atmosphere. We are committed to open communications, superior customer service, continuous improvement and accountability to the public. We strive to apply city ordinances, regulations and policies in a fair and consistent manner. We work to enhance our unique identity, heritage, and quality of life. We encourage city beautification, maintaining our natural environment, and pride in ownership. We foster long term growth by proactively pursuing and assisting in high quality development and redevelopment. We recognize the benefits and responsibilities our metropolitan location bestows and pledge to actively cooperate with other jurisdictions to address issues that impact our city and region. Priorities and Initiatives In 2019, the City Council, a representative from each of the City’s Advisory Commissions, and City staff participated in a strategic planning retreat to define goals that will help to guide the City of Little Canada. The first step in this process was to create a practical vision for the next 3-5 years. As of the 3rd quarter of 2024, 80.71% of action items have measurable completion. The Strategic Plan has been reviewed and formally updated in 2022 and is included in the 2025 Preliminary Budget. Specific goals included in the practical vision are as follows: By 2025, Little Canada:  Has flexible gathering spaces that will engage everyone  Has increased, diversified citizen engagement  Has modernized codes & all records are incorporated into efficient, functional formats  Has sustainable core services that are accountable to the public  Has an enhanced internal and external trail system  Has provided additional park amenities and opportunities to engage the community  Has revitalized key commercial corridors  Is maintaining, and has created, new housing opportunities 2
