MINIITES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY COUNCTL <br />LITTLE CANADA~ MINNESOTA <br />May 20, 1986 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special meeting of the <br />Council of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the <br />20th day of May, 1986 in the Council Chambers of the City Center <br />located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Mr. Michael Fahey <br />Councilman Mr. William Blesener <br />Councilman Mr. Rick Collova <br />Councilwoman Ms. Mugs Nardini <br />Councilwoman Mrs. Beverly 5calze <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Clerk Mr. Joseph Chlebeck <br />City Attorney Mr. Thomas 5weeney <br />City Planner Mr. Steve Grittman <br />Acting Recording Secty. Mrs. Bev Jespersen <br />Mayor Fahey opened the Public Hearing concerning the Conditional <br />Use Permit and Planned Unit Development for various uses on the <br />property owned by Mover's Warehouse, Inc, located at 2940 Rice St. <br />previously owned by Northwestern Bell Co. <br />Mary Ann Auge, resident and manager of Dueber's Department Store, <br />addressed the Council as a representative for the Market Place <br />businesses. She presented the Council with a petition signed by <br />all the merchants of the Market Place who are not in favor of a <br />bingo hall in the Northwestern Bell building. They are concerned <br />with the parking, congestion and lighting. <br />Mayor Fahey noted the following merchants on the petition: <br />Dueber's, Snyder Bros. Drug, Champion Auto, Care Cleaners~ North <br />Suburban Karate, Nancy's Cafe, Video World, Pet's Plus, Create-It <br />Crafts, Red Wing Shoes, Radio Shack, Cathelen Interiors, The <br />Wardrobe, The Baby's Room, Rainbow Foods, Lady Goldfinger, McKnight <br />Barbers, Optometrist and Greer's. <br />Thomas Short stated that there would be an off-duty officer from <br />the Sheriff's Department to control the parking lot, At the <br />present time Rainbow Foods is driving across their property to <br />service their dumpsters, He noted that since a green area and <br />curbing is required, Rainbow will have to work out a different way <br />to address their dumpster. <br />Mr, ~oe Vitale, Venetian inn, appeared before the Council and <br />stated that he was in favor of the bingo proposal. <br />Mr. Larry Carlson, writer of internal control for bingo appeared <br />before the Council and was in agreement with the bingo cause. He <br />reported on the bingo hall in Savage and stated that they did not <br />have a parking problem, <br />
