MINUTES
City Council
August 27, 1986
Text Fahey felt that the best way to police the property would be to
Amendment enforce the zoning.
Landscape
Businesses Mrs. Scalze indicated that she felt the Council erred in giving
(Cont.) the landscape businesses an October 1 deadline to vacate the
premises and felt that the Council should extend this deadline.
Fahey agreed.
Nardini indicated that these businesses have been on the premises
since the Spring of 1985 and they have been unlicensed. Nardini
pointed out that at the Planning Commission one of the businesses
indicated that they could relocate to another facility by October 1.
Prescription Landscape indicated that this was true at that time,
but he would have had to act on the location the next day and
did not know if the location was still available.
Mr. Blesener indicated that he went to the site and looked at the
area about 5:30 this evening. Both businesses were locked up and
closed for the day. All equipment was inside the building and
there was nothing left out.
Blesener reported that Mr. Anderson showed him their facilities
and they have about 8 pick-up trucks, lawnmowers and fertilizers.
Blesener reported that it was his feeling that these two businesses
would do well in this location and building. Blesener felt that
these two businesses would be considerably less disruptive to the
neighborhood than some of the permitted uses under B-3 such as
go-cart track, semi-truck parking, gas station, car wash, public
garage, motor vehicle sales lot, etc. Blesener stated that he
will not vote to keep these two businesses out.
Collova agreed that the businesses were good ones for this building
and location. Collova pointed out the County Road C access as well
as the fact that the only equipment are things that anyone would
have at a single-family home. Collova did not feel that retail
would come in on this site and felt that there was nothing better
for the property than these two businesses.
Prescription Landscape indicated
the property until the Spring of
indicated.
that they did not begin renting
1986 contrary to what Ms. Nardini
Prescription also indicated that during the winter they would only
be storing equipment on the property and pointed out that their
space is unheated. Trucks are taken home by employees during the
winter months.
Page -4-
