MINUTES
City Council
April 8, 1987
Bingo Fahey outlined the requirements set forth in Council's
(Cont.) Resolution No. 86-5-199 as well as the recommendations contained
in the City Auditor's report dated April 6, 1987.
Fahey then outlined the various correspondence the City has received
which includes a letter from the Attorney representing Little Sisters
of the Poor and Servants of Mary stating that Little Sisters of the
Poor would no longer accept contributions from Servants of Mary and
St. Joseph's Society generated from LCCB and requests that St. Joseph's
Society and Servants of Mary no longer use the name of Little Sisters
of the Poor.
Fahey further outlined the letter received from Attorney Steven Kirch
who is representing seven women who are current and former employees
of LCCB in a sexual harassment and discrimination case. Mr. Kirch
has indicated that he intends to bring acourt action against Ed
Amaro, Minnesota Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf, as well as
LCCB and some of the officers of the various charities at LCCB.
he City also received a letter from North End Boxing's gambling
manager stating that it holds Mr. Ed Amaro in the highest regard.
Another letter was received from the president of North End Boxing
which states that it has no desire to bring Mr. Amaro back as an
employee in any capacity.
Letters have also been received from Lora Amaro as well as a petition
filed by sbme employees of the Nall requesting that Mr. Amaro remain
on staff and that they have not witnessed the allegations brought
against Amaro.
