To review overall development of the Industrial Park in the
Centerville Road area given the soil test results the City
received from Larry Lee indicating that the Park may not be
able to be developed to the high quality standards the City
previously felt possible;
2. To consider the recommendation of the Recreation Association
and Parks and Recreation Department that the City purchase
25 to 30 acres of property in this area for recreational
development;
3. To consider the establishment of a community development
corporation.
The City Engineer reported that with regard to the first item for
consideration, the City originally planned to construct a water
tower in the area near Allen and DeSoto. Soil tests were done in
this area and it was discovered that there was a very soft clay
material a depth of 27 to 3~ feet. The testing company indicated
that these materials would not support a structure on spread-footings,
and that in order to construct a water tower on the site, 70-foot
pylings would be necessary. The Engineer reported that this is the
same type of material that was discovered on the Larry Lee site.
Page -1-
