Scalze asked if it wer•e
possible to install an over~flow str•uctur~e on this side of the lake.
The Engineer• r•eplied that it was not possible to install such a
str•uctur~e on the south side of the lake at this time as ther•e was
no ar•ea to stor~e the water•. However~, i f the Ci ty pur•chased pr•oper~ty
for storage, it would be possible.
The Engi neer• al so r~epor•ted that he woul d wor•k wi th the County to
corr•ect a bad situation in the front of the Eng house that will help
somewhat. However•, the Eng house is too low. The Engineer~ r~epor•ted
that the level of the lake is one foot higher• than the level of the
pond that is supposed to flow into the lake.
Fahey asked i f the over~fl ow str•uctur•es woul d hel p contr•ol the 1 evel of
the lake dur~ing stor~ms.
The Engineer~ r•eplied that this was cor•r•ect.
Scalze pointed out that while the over~flow str•uctur•es will help contr•ol
water• fr~om the west, ther•e i s nothi ng to contr•ol water~ comi ng fr•om the
east.
Fahey suggested that the Engineer~ contact the adjacent city on the
east as well as the Water•shed for• some type of contr•ols coming fr•om
the east.
Bl esener• poi nted out that the gr•ant pr•ogr~am wi 11 pay for~ hal f of the
pr•oject if the City r•eceives appr•oval. Blesener~ asked how the other~
half of the impr•ovement would be paid for•.
The Engineer• estimated that the City would pay about half the unfunded
por~tion of the pr~oject, with the County and State being asked to
par•ticipate.
The Engi neer• repor•ted that ther•e ar~e other• homes on the 1 ake that
have been in danger• of flooding at var•ious times other• than the Eng
home, and stated that the over•flow str•uctur•es would r•educe the danger•
of flooding to these homes.
D1r.
