MINUTES <br />City Council <br />Feb. 24, 1988 <br />School <br />Di str•i ct <br />Issues <br />(Cont.) <br />Fahey noted that another• consider•ation is the Public zoning of the <br />pr•oper•ty as well as the r•ecent Lauder~dale sale. Fahey noted that <br />ther•e i s no guar•antee that the pr~oper•ty woul d be r•ezoned. <br />Collova pointed out that land pr•ices in the Center•ville Road ar•ea <br />ar•e between $22,000 and $25,000 per• acre. Fahey noted that the <br />Slumber~land pr~oper•ty was pur•chased for• $20,000 per• acr~e. <br />Blesener• estimated the costs to develop the Spooner~ Par~k pr•oper•ty <br />into single-family lots at over• $20,000 per~ lot, and felt that <br />$18,500 was a good offer~ for~ this pr•oper~ty. <br />Collova also pointed out that in addition to utility costs ther•e would <br />be additional costs to develop this pr•oper•ty as r~esidential due to the <br />gr•ade of the pr•oper~ty, costs of tr•ee r~emoval , etc. <br />The Ci ty Engi neer~ r~epor•ted that a por•ti on of the pr•oper~ty has been fi 11 ed. <br />Scalze noted that ther•e is some low land involved in the pur•chase. <br />Mr~. Blesener• intr•oduced the following r•esolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 88-2-66 - AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A PUFCHASE <br />AGREEMENT OFFERING THE SCNOOL DISTRICT $18,500 <br />PFR ACRE FOR SPOONER PARK WITH THE CITY OFFERI~IG <br />TO PURCHASE 21.7 /~CRES, TERMS OF TNE PURCHASE <br />TO BE FIVE YEARS OR LESS, DEPE~IDING ON THE NEEDS <br />OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />The for•egoing r~esolution w~s duly seconded by Mr~. Fahey. <br />Ayes (4) Fahey, Collova, Scalze, Blesener•. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declar•ed adopted. <br />This r•esolution appear•s in Resolution Book No. 19, Page 70. <br />The City Cler~k noted that ther~e ar~e assessments on the Kellogg High <br />School pr~operty as well as Capital View pr•oper•ty which the School <br />Distr•ict could have applied against the pur~chase pr~ice of Spooner~ <br />Par•k. <br />Fahey noted that if and when Capital View changes owner~ship, these <br />assessments will have to be paid. The assessments ar~e cur~r~ently <br />accr~uing inter~est. <br />Blesener• stated that the City Cler•k's suggestion was acceptable to <br />him as long as the assessments wer~e applied against the pur~chase <br />price. <br />The City Attor~ney suggested that he apnr•oach the School Distr•ict with <br />the offer amount at this point.
