MINUT£S <br />City Council <br />P~iay 10, 1989 <br />Reller Plcwy. P~ir, Collova reported brie£ly on the Gervais Lake Committee, <br />Bilce Lane They want to do something as of this year in the way of <br />widening shoulciers, etc. P4r. Fahey suggested P4r. Collova <br />Agenda call the County garage and ask them to go out and take a <br />Addition 1ook. Further, to ask them if we can get some patching done <br />on that road while we are studying it, <br />Organized P4r. Collova reported we are Icind of at a s~andstill on solid <br />Collection waste. Plat maps have been obtained. b1r. Collova believes <br />we really want to keep up the recyclables. We want to keep <br />Agenda recycling in existence. Mr. Fahey suggested we re-negotiate <br />Addition each year with the recycling companies for pickup. The <br />matter was tabled for two weeks. <br />Tree Bids Mrs. Scalze reported on the Parks and Recreation's tree <br />bids, She indicated al1 of the white pines have been <br />Agenda planted. They are going to get going on watering. Mrs. <br />Item No, 14 Scalze also indicated that white spruce are going into ~he <br />Thunder Bay area and the neighbors are all excited. There <br />is a problem with nesting waterfowl, which the neighbors are <br />concerned about. <br />Announce- Mrs. Scalze also reported the groundbreaking at Pioneer Park <br />ments went well and was well attended. She made a puk~lic thank <br />you for their support. She also reported there is a new <br />tennis league for 10-18 year olds at 58.00 for residents and <br />511.00 for non-residents, <br />Mrs. Scalze also reported that she had met with Janet <br />Guthrey, e~c. They are planning to expand the Senior's <br />Program and are planning to conduct senior programming with <br />the School District, such as health talks, etc. and are <br />talking with the Maricet Place Merchants, etc. <br />Mr. ~'ahey reported the free distribution of srnoke detectors <br />at the Fire Hall on ~4ay 21, 19II9 from 11s00 a,m. - <br />3a00 p.m, Al1 you have to do is attend. <br />P~ir, Fahey reminded voters that next Tuesday, May 16 is the <br />School Board election. Little Canada citizens should get up <br />to speed on candidates and vote for the candidate of their <br />choice. Hoping for a good turn-out. There was a good <br />turn-out on the referendum.
