The City Auditor reviewed in detail his report on the
FINANCING annual tax effect of proposed bonding to finance a new
REPORT fire station and/or city hall.
Fahey felt that the bond issue for such a project
should be for 15 years, otherwise the annual tax effect
would be too large. Fahey asked the length of recent
City bond issues.
Voto replied that recent issues for special assessments
have been for 1o years, however, the last general
obligation bond the City issued was a 15 year issue.
Voto stated that given the type of project, a 15 year
issue was reasonable.
Fahey felt the report should be revised showing the tax
effect of a 12 and 15 year bond issue and including
comparisons of the effect on $160,000 and $200,000
homes.
Page 1
