STAFF REPORT

TO: Mayor Fischer and Members of the City Council

FROM: Steven Anderson, Parks and Recreation Director

DATE: January 8, 2024

RE: Addition of Keyless Entry at the Little Canada Fire Station

ACTION TO BE CONSIDERED:
Approve the contract with Electro Watchman for Keyless Entry at the Fire Station.

BACKGROUND:
At the December 18 council meeting, the council motioned to approve the keyless entry services
proposal from Electro Watchman for City Hall, Park Buildings and the Old Fire Hall. Since then,
the Fire Station’s keyless entry system has gone down and is in need of repair and replacement.
The system was installed in 2013 and is outdated. Project scope includes installation of an S2
netbox, installation of 3 upgraded card readers, 1 keypad card reader and enough keycard/fobs to
last the systems useful lifespan. All existing cabling, electric door locks, power supplies and
other compatible hardware can still be used from the old system. The new system will be
compatible with the City’s current S2 Platform that manages all keyless entry activity.

The city has moved forward with replacing the fire station keyless entry system to ensure
emergency personnel can effectively access the facility.

BUDGET IMPACT
This is an unbudgeted repair of existing infrastructure. The cost of $7,545.23 for this project is
coming out of Fire Fund 457.

STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
Approve the contract with Electro Watchman for Keyless Entry at the Fire Station.

ATTACHMENTS:
• 122024 Electro Watchman Proposal - Fire Station
• 121824 Electro Watchman Proposal for City Facilities
