However, county data does not specify whether these units are located on the
first floor or if their buildings have elevators. As a result, condos were excluded from the data on
single-story housing. Further analysis is needed to determine their accessibility for residents with
mobility challenges.

Accessibility
Housing accessibility considers both physical design—such as single-story housing
availability—and the needs of residents with mobility challenges.
Over 25% of Little Canada residents are over the age of 60, a proportion that has grown steadily
since 2000, when only 16% of residents were in this age group.
Figure 14 – Age Demographics of Little Canada Since 2000
Year Median Age Percent Under 18 Percent Over 60
2000 36.2 22.1% 16%
2010 42.3 18.8% 20.3%
2023 40.8 23.6% 26.3%
Source – 2000 & 2010 Decennial Census and 2023 ACS 5-Year Estimates
Approximately 6% of Little Canada residents report having an ambulatory disability, a rate
comparable to most reference communities but slightly higher than the Metro-wide average of
4.5%.
69%
80%80%86%87%
75%72%
84%
0%
20%
40%
60%
80%
100%
Arden Hills Little Canada Maplewood North Saint
Paul
Roseville Shoreview Vadnais
Heights
White Bear
Lake
