MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 22, 1989
Attorney pointed out that his review of the information
contained in City records relates to action by the
Council on a Class B license application. The matter
on the table is for renewal of a Class A license, which
was never granted by the City of Little Canada. The
City Attorney recommended that the Council take action
on the license application which was tabled on November
8, 1989 as well as the license application which is
before the Council this evening. The Attorney
recommended denial of both applications since they are
for renewal of a Class A license which was never issued
by the City.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 89-11-570 - DENYING THE GAMBLING LICENSE
RENEWAL APPLICATION SUBMITTED TO THE CITY COUNCIL BY
THE NORTH RAMSEY 500 LIONS CLUB AT THE NOVEMBER 8, 1989
COUNCIL MEETING BASED ON THE FACT THAT THE APPLICATION
IS FOR RENEWAL OF A CLASS A LICENSE WHICH WAS NEVER
ISSUED BY THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr.
LaValle.
Ayes (5) Scalze, LaValle, Collova, Blesener, Fahey.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
The City Attorney pointed out that the renewal
application before the City this evening does have a
lease agreement with the Venetian Inn attached.
However, the Attorney pointed out that the application
is for renewal of a Class A license which has never
been issued by the City.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 89-11-571 - DENYING THE CLASS A GAMBLING
LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION SUBMITTED BY THE NORTH
RAMSEY 500 LIONS CLUB AND RECEIVED BY THE CITY ON
NOVEMBER 17, 1989 BASED ON THE FACT THAT THE
APPLICATION IS FOR THE RENEWAL OF A GAMBLING LICENSE
WHICA THE CITY NEVER ISSUED AND BASED ON THE FACT THAT
A CLASS A LICENSE WOULD BE OPEN-ENDED AND ALLOW BINGO
AND THE SALE OF PULL-TABS, WHICH THE COUNCIL DOES NOT
BELIEVE TO BE IN TxE BEST INTERESTS OF THE CITY
Page 17
