MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />February 14, 1990 <br />BOOSTER The City Administrator reported that he and the Public <br />STATION Works Superintendent have discussed the proposal of Mr. <br />PROPERTY Grieman to purchase one acre of the City's booster <br />station property. The Administrator reported that when <br />the City purchased the property, it purchased enough <br />land to accommodate reservoir water storage. The <br />Administrator stated that before the City could <br />consider Mr, Grieman's request, it would need to <br />analyze if the City has any future need of the property <br />either for reservoir storage or for the location of a <br />second elevated tank. <br />Fahey agreed that it will take some time to analyze the <br />situation, however, pointed out that if the property is <br />not needed, he was in favor of its sale to help £inance <br />a portion of the fire department project. Fahey <br />pointed out that City staff is preparing a listing of <br />City-owned properties that could be considered for <br />sale. <br />Scalze suggested that the City be conservative in this <br />matter, pointing out that the needs of the City 30 <br />years from now have to be considered. <br />The City Engineer reported that the City acquired the <br />booster station site over 20 years ago. At that time <br />there were plans to extend the City's watermain to both <br />Vadnais Heights and White Bear Lake, and the booster <br />station property was purchased with that in mind. The <br />Engineer suggested that he analyze the situation and <br />would report back to the Council in a month. <br />Fahey asked if the development of the Grieman property <br />could proceed without a decision being made on the <br />booster station site. <br />Mr. Grieman replied that it could. <br />Scalze suggested that the proposed plat of the Grieman <br />property be submitted to the Park Commission for their <br />recommendation as to park charges. <br />Fahey suggested that City staff research what other <br />cities are charging for park charges for new <br />single-family homes pointing out that the City's park <br />charge of $300 has not been increased for some time. <br />UMBRELLA The City Attorney reviewed the City's umbrella coverage <br />POLICY pointinq out that the City has two choices.
