MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING CITY COUNCIL LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA April 2, 1990 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special meeting of the Council of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 2nd day of April, 1990 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. Mayor Michael Fahey chaired the meeting and called it to order at 4:30 P,M. and the following members of the Council were present at roll call: MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Mr. Michael Fahey Councilmember Mr. Bill Blesener Councilmember Mr. Rick Collova Councilmember Mrs. Beverly Scalze MEMBERS ABSENT: Councilmember Mr. Jim LaValle ALSO PRESENT: City Admin. Mr. Joel Hanson Bond Counsel Ms. Mary Ippel Rec. Secretary Mrs. Kathy Glanzer The special meeting was called to hear a presentation by representatives of the EMC Corporation outlining their proposal to acquire a 24-acre site adjacent to 35E and Highway 36 within the City for the construction of a 130,000 square foot corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility. EMC is requesting Tax Increment Financing assistance from the City to assist with land acquisition and site development costs. Mr. Arnie Estebrooks, Gonyea Company, a land brokerage firm representing EMC Corporation, outlined EMC's need for a larger facility and reported that the property in question fits the parameters that EMC is looking for. However, the property is currently zoned residential and would require a rezoning. Estebrooks reported that EMC has proposals from other cities, however, feel the Little Canada site is the most appropriate in terms of employees' needs and EMC's current location.
