MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
May 23, 1990
LANDSCAPE The City Planner reported that the Planning Commission
ORDINANCE tabled action on the proposed Landscape Ordinance
pending further information from his office. The
Planner reported that he is in the process of reviewing
some additional information and will make a report at
the next Planning Commission meeting.
It was the concensus of the Council to table action on
this matter until the second Council meeting in June.
LIQUOR Blesener reviewed previous Council action wherein the
LICENSES City requested and received two additional on-sale
liquor licenses from the State Legislature. Blesener
reported that it was his feeling that there is no
lonqer the need to retain these additional licenses
since the previous Dick & Mary's license is available
and the fact that a study of the property along Country
Drive indicated that this would not be a good location
for a commercial or hotel development. Blesener also
pointed out the office/showroom development proposed
for that property. Blesener reported that if the City
does not wish to retain the two additional licenses, it
will have to request the Legislature to take them back.
Fahey indicated that he felt the City should retain all
three licenses it has available stating that he would
not be opposed to giving one or two of the licenses to
existing City businesses.
Blesener pointed out that the licenses have been
available for a couple of years, and no one has asked
for them. Blesener noted that there is a moratorium on
issuance of these licenses until the City adopts a
Liquor Ordinance.
Scalze suggested that the City put the issue of the
Liquor Ordinance on a Council agenda. Scalze felt the
ordinance issue should be resolved before the Council
decides whether or not to retain all three licenses.
LaValle agreed.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 90-5-256 - REQUESTING THAT THE COUNCIL
CONSIDER ADOPTION OF A LIQUOR ORDINANCE AT ITS JUNE 27,
1990 MEETING
Paqe 13
