MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 30, 1990
Jim Beckwith, Kraus-Anderson presented the Council with
bid results for the Fire Station and City Center
remodeling projects.
Beckwith began a detailed review of this document
beginning with the Fire Station project. Beckwith
recommended that the low bids be awarded in all
categories except the following:
Retaining Walls - Only one bid was received,
which Beckwith indicated was over estimate.
Beckwith recommended that Retaining Walls be
rebid with the Landscape Package.
Lawns/Sodding - Only one bid was received.
Again, Beckwith recommended that this item be
rebid with the Landscape Package.
Rough Carpentry/Material - The low bid was not
complete as it did not include lumber paneling or
V-groove siding. Therefore, Beckwith recommended
that the next low bid be awarded.
Finish Carpentry/Materials - Beckwith recommended
withholding the award of bid for this section until
he can obtain itemized bid breakdowns from the
bidders to ensure that the bids are complete.
Hollow Metal Frames & Finish Hardware - The low
bid was not completed, therefore, Beckwith
recommended that the next low bid be awarded.
Special Flooring - Beckwith requested a delay
in awarding this bid since he would like to have
an opportunity to review the various products
being proposed.
Mechanical - Beckwith recommended delaying the
awarding of this bid. Beckwith reported that two
vendors bid complete mechanical packages, however,
many bid only portions of the mechanical package.
He needs an opportunity to review the partial bids
to determine if there are combinations of these that
will make a complete mechanical package. If so,
these can then be compared with the two complete
bid packages received.
Page 2
