MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
5EPTEMBER 26, 1990
Thursday, October 4th, at 5 P.M. A ground breaking
ceremony has been scheduled for the City Center
expansion on Wednesday, October 10th, at 5 P.M.
Scalze announced that Northwest Youth & Family Services
is inviting nominations of individuals for their
Outstanding Service To Youth Award. Recipients may be
chosen from four award categories: Law Enforcement,
Educator, Community Volunteer, and Youth/Young Adult.
The deadline for nominations is Friday, October 12th,
with award recipients to be honored at a ceremony to be
held on Thursday, November 15th. Please contact the
City Center for additional information.
PLAN REVIEW Scalze reported that the next item of consideration is
FREDERICKS- a plan review for the proposed Frederickshaven Plat
HAVEN submitted by Gordie Howe. This proposal involves the
extension of the Sunrise Drive cul-de-sac with five
additional lots, one of which will include the Schletty
home, as well as improvement of a cul-de-sac from
Edgerton Street which includes three single-family lots
and eight twin-home lots. Scalze reported that the
Planning Commission has recommended concept approval.
However, the Planning Commission has some question
about the valuation of the homes proposed. Scalze
reported that the Mayor has indicated that he would not
support a rezoning of the property in question.
Mr. Gordie Howe appeared before the Council and
reported that he would like to develop the project in
two phases. The first phase would involve extending
the Sunrise Drive cul-de-sac with five single-family
lots. The second phase would involve a cul-de-sac
coming in from Edgerton. Aowe reported that.he has
discussed the proposal for 8 twin home lots with the
property owners, the Schletty's, and they are aware of
the neighborhood opposition to the proposal. Therefore,
he would like to eliminate the twin-homes and propose
only single-family homes.
Howe reported that, if possible, he would like to begin
development of Phase I this fall. Phase II would be
platted as an outlot with possible development next
year. Howe submitted a new drawing to the Council
which showed all single-family homes.
Page 2
