MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JULY 24, 1991 <br />The Acting Mayor pointed out that Council Member <br />LaValle will not arrive at the meeting until <br />approximately 9 P,M. Therefore, some of the public <br />hearing items will need to be delayed until that time <br />since they require a 4/5ths vote of the Council. <br />Scalze apologized to those present for the <br />inconvenience. <br />PUBLIC Acting Mayor Beverly Scalze opened the public hearing <br />HEARING on the County Road B shoulder paving improvement which <br />COUNTY involves the area along County Road B from a point <br />ROAD B 1,325 feet east of Rice Street to McMenemy Road. <br />SHOULDER <br />IMPROVEMENT The City Administrator pointed out that the County has <br /> done an overlay of County Road B in the area described. <br /> As part of that project, shoulders were paved as well. <br /> The County requires City participation for 75% of the <br /> shoulder improvement, which in this case is estimated <br /> to be $3,060. The City is estimating final costs to be <br /> $3,500 which would provide for any overages in the <br /> project as well as City administrative costs. Since <br /> there is approximately 1,640 feet of assessable <br /> frontage, the cost would be $2.14 per lineal foot. An <br /> assessment hearing will be held in the fall, at which <br /> time the City will have actual costs. <br /> Ed Grieman, 177 E. County Road B, asked if Maplewood <br /> had agreed to participate in the shoulder improvement <br /> for their portions of the street. Grieman estimated <br /> the cost to his property at $1,300 or $1,400. <br /> The Administrator reported that Maplewood is <br /> participating. <br /> Grieman stated that he did not oppose the project. <br /> Jim Mitsch, 305 County Road B, asked the significance <br /> of the project beginning at a point 1,325 feet east of <br /> Rice Street. <br />The City Administrator reported that from that point <br />west the County is undertaking a reconstruction <br />project. The 1,325 foot point is where the <br />reconstruction and overlay projects meet. The <br />Administrator pointed out that usually the improvement <br />Page 2 <br />
