MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 9, 1992
persons aged 55 or over. Average age in this type of
housing is low 70's.
A member of the audience asked about dining room
facilities.
Lindh replied that each unit will have a kitchen. The
common dining room will have seating for 50 with
additional tables available so that seating can be
expanded to include all occupants. Lindh reported that
Presbyterian Homes is in preliminary discussion with
the Venetian Inn about occasional delivery of ineals
ordered from their menu. However, the building is
designed for independent living, with accommodations
for less independent living over time as the population
ages and needs become heavier. Lindh reported that the
dining room will have space for heating meals, but not
accommodations for producing meals.
Hanson asked if the dining room would be available for
events like pot-luck suppers.
Lindh replied that it would, and noted that this is the
type of community spirit that Presbyterian Homes hopes
will happen.
A member of the audience asked if the units will have
patios or balconies.
Lindh replied that they would not.
Lindh was asked if there would be a charge for using
the dining room. Lindh replied that there would not
be, that use of common space is covered in monthly
rents. However, if a meal is ordered from the Venetian
Inn and served in the dining room, there would be a
charge for the meal.
There was no one else from the general public wishing
to comment on these matters.
Upon motion by Blesener, seconded by Collova, the
public hearing was closed.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 92-9-304 - APPROVING MUNICIPAL HOUSING
PROGRAM TO PROVIDE FINANCING FOR A SENIOR HOUSING
DEVELOPMENT AND GIVING PRELIMINARY APPROVAL TO THE
ISSUANCE BY THE CITY OF REVENUE BONDS THEREFOR ON
BEHALF OF THE PRESBYTERIAN HOMES OF MINNESOTA SUBJECT
TO ALL COST SAVINGS REALIZED FROM THE COMBINED BOND
ISSUE ACCRUING TO THE LITTLE CANADA PROJECT AND SUBJECT
TO PRESBYTERIAN HOMES ENTERING INTO A DEVELOPMENT
AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY
Page 4
