CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION 2025-3-41 <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION TO THE FY ’26 <br />CONGRESSIONALLY DIRECTED FUNDING PROGRAM FOR THE INTERSTATE <br />35E PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE PROJECT <br />WHEREAS, the City is eligible to apply for Congressionally Directed Funding through the <br />offices of Senator Klobuchar, Senator Smith, and Representative McCollum; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Little Canada’s Interstate 35E Pedestrian Bridge Project is a regionally <br />significant project; and, <br />WHEREAS, Congressionally Directed Funding would help reduce the financial burden on the <br />residents of Little Canada and make the project viable; and, <br />WHEREAS, the planned bridge improvements would improve safety, enhance recreational <br />opportunities, and provide a key connection between the east and west halves of the City that are <br />separated by the interstate; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed pedestrian bridge would improve community connectivity for non- <br />motorists to access the important destinations throughout the region. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Little <br />Canada; that <br />1. The City of Little Canada supports an application to the FY ’26 Congressionally Directed <br />Funding program for the Interstate 35E Pedestrian Bridge Project and authorizes staff to <br />prepare and submit such application; and <br />2. The City Council hereby commits to funding project elements not eligible for <br />Congressionally Directed Funding and ensuring the Project complies with <br />Congressionally Directed Funding requirements and timelines. <br />Adopted by the Council this 12th day of March, 2025. <br />_____________________________ <br />Thomas Fischer, Mayor <br />Attest: __________________________________ <br />Laura Linehan, Acting City Administrator
