CITY ADMINISTRATOR JOB DESCRIPTION <br />3 <br /> <br /> <br />• Ability to oversee all city operations, coordinate the efforts of city personnel, and foster their <br />confidence and trust. <br />• Ability to direct and perform general administrative work, ability to research and analyze <br />information on a variety of subjects. <br />• Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in planning, developing, and administering <br />programs and services. <br />• Ability to motivate the city’s leadership team to meet organizational goals and the city’s <br />mission and vision. <br />• Knowledge of public financing techniques such as tax increment financing, bonds, grants, <br />etc. <br />• Knowledge of housing and commercial development and redevelopment. <br />• Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and precisely orally and in writing, including <br />presentations. <br />• Ability to work as part of a team and establish and maintain positive working relationships <br />with city staff, elected officials, the public, and other governmental units and municipalities. <br />• Ability to be a leader by example with excellent time-management skills. <br />• Strong sense of initiative with the ability to work independently and provide self-direction to <br />plan and perform duties with minimal supervision. <br />• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Teams. <br /> <br /> <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Minimum: <br />• Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration or closely related field <br />• At least two years of increasing responsible management experience in an executive position <br />such as department head, city assistant administrator/manager, city administrator or city <br />manager. <br /> <br />Desired: <br />• Master’s degree <br />• 5+ years of experience in management capacity in a municipal environment <br />• Previous experience as a City Administrator/Manager <br /> <br /> <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS <br /> <br />The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to <br />successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
