The grant deadline is March 31, 2025, and staff will be requesting the City Council adopt resolution of <br />support at the March 26, 2025, City Council meeting that can be submitted with the grant application. <br /> <br />NEW BOARDWALK <br />In partnership with the City of Maplewood, the new boardwalk design will be constructed with <br />minimal maintenance materials and will be ten feet in width (to adhere to the grant requirements). The <br />new boardwalk will also be installed with helical piles that will withstand the elements better than the <br />existing floating system boardwalk. <br /> <br />BUDGET IMPACT <br />Funds have been budgeted in the Capital Improvement Plan for the boardwalk replacement. Current <br />project estimates are: <br />• Materials - $197,948.97 <br />• Removal - $13,000 <br />• Installation – $110,000 <br />• Soft Costs - $70,000 <br />• Estimated Total - $390,948.97 <br /> <br />Due to the complexity of the grant application and required supporting documents, staff enlisted <br />Bolton & Menk to prepare the MnDNR Local Trail Connections Program grant. It is anticipated the <br />completed grant application will be 30+ pages. The cost for the grant preparation is anticipated to be <br />approximately $7,500 (which will be a shared cost with the City of Maplewood). As part of the grant <br />submittal Bolton & Menk has also prepared 60% plans for the project. The cost of the application is <br />non-eligible reimbursement cost. The grant manual identifies, any expenditure that occurs before the <br />effective date of a completed agreement.
