MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 12, 1993
reported that it was his understanding that the work
was guaranteed for one year, and asked for an extension
to that guarantee.
The City Engineer reported that he would address this
with the project superintendent, and would have him
stop by and address the matter with Mr. Peyer. The
Engineer also thought that the guarantee was for two
years.
Peyer also expressed concern that when the sod was
installed, it was placed over a very thin layer of
black dirt placed on clay materials. Peyer also
reported that Kirby of Frattalone had indicated that
the berms would be cut down and the yards sloped to the
curbing. This was not done.
The Engineer reported that a minimum of 3 inches of
black dirt should have been put down, and that this
material would have been available on site for the most
part.
Peyer reported that the property owners had 4 to 6
inches of black dirt under their sod, but during the
course of the problem the clay was turned over and the
black dirt buried. Peyer was concerned about the
establishment of the sod on the clay material.
Morelan asked about a guarantee on the landscaping.
The City Engineer reported that there is a guarantee
through next year, so if the sod dies, it will have to
be redone.
Peyer was especially concerned that the slopes were not
cut down indicating that there was an 18 to 20 inch
pitch to the street.
The Engineer reported that he would have the project
superintendent address this issue with Peyer.
Peyer reported that there is some settling in the
street at each point where the water service was
installed.
The City Engineer pointed out that the final wear
course would be put on the street next year. Over the
winter it is hoped that the street will settle, and it
will be leveled out and overlaid next year.
Peyer reported that he has asked the Public Works
Department to ensure that the contractors keep the
street clean, and felt this should be addressed again.
Page 10
