MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 12, 1993
Vanderbie/Allen Avenue improvements equaled or exceeded
the benefits received.
Deb Moravetz, 476 Allen Avenue, pointed out that her
husband had submitted a letter requesting reimbursement
for the cost of driveway restoration at approximately
$300 to $350.
Scalze noted that the Council has a copy of this
letter.
The City Administrator reported that the City typically
restores driveways as part of an improvement project,
but in this instance Mr. Moravetz asked that the
restoration not be done as part of the City's project
since he was having a contractor redo his driveway.
Mr. Moravetz is requesting restoration costs of between
$300 and $350 as compensation for the work that would
have otherwise been done as part of the City's project.
The City Administrator reported that the City Engineer
has reviewed what it would have cost to restore Mr.
Moravetz's driveway entrance based on the unit prices
that are part of the contract. That estimate is
$74.16. The Administrator noted that this work would
not have been subject to additional mobilization costs
since Valley Paving was already in the area, whereas,
Mr. Moravetz had to pay mobilization costs to his
contractor for the restoration of his driveway. The
Administrator recommended that $74.16 be credited from
the Moravetz assessment for the improvement of Al1en
Avenue to offset driveway entrance reconstruction
costs.
Mrs. Moravetz indicated that her husband may wish to
address the Council on this issue in the future should
he have any questions. Mr. Moravetz is out-of-town
this evening, therefore, unable to attend the meeting.
Tom Moser, 2960 Vanderbie Road, expressed concern about
the restoration of the boulevard. Moser indicated that
the boulevard is hilly, has soft spots and holes.
There is also a low area where water is sitting after a
rain. Moser indicated that he was told on 2 or 3
occasions that the contractor would come back and
repair the boulevard, but this has not happened.
The City Engineer replied that he would make sure the
project superintendent had this item on his punch list
so that it is addressed before the project is closed
out.
Moser was also concerned that there was not enough
black dirt under the new sod.
Page 13
