MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
DECEMBER 16, 1993
Department purchase, the Fire Department is sales
tax-exempt while the City is not. Therefore, the Fire
Department would make the purchase and the City would
reimburse the Department.
LaValle suggested that the CAD system should be moved
further out on the list since it may not be available
for a year to a year and a half.
The Fire Chief reported that he has now learned that
the County's computer may be on line right after the
first of the year so that information can begin being
inputted. The Fire Department will be lining up
volunteers to get the appropriate information into the
system.
LaValle asked if the Fire Department visited businesses
in the City to get the necessary information for the
CAD system.
The Chief replied that the Fire Department has an
on-going committee that gathers the information. This
information is currently logged in the books contained
in each of the fire trucks. The Chief reported that
$10,000 is an estimate for getting the appropriate
information on the CAD system, and the actual cost will
be communicated to the City Council.
Pedersen pointed out that the City Center sign still
needs some research.
The City Administrator agreed, pointing out that
approval of the 1994 10% Capital Improvement listing is
conceptual for items 2 and 3 at this point, and further
justification will be required before any purchase is
made of these items. A detailed analysis was not done
earlier due to the time required and the possibility
these items may not receive a high enough priority.
Morelan asked if the two City signs would be let out
for bid.
The City Administrator pointed out that the cost of
each sign is under $25,000, therefore, the formal
bidding process is not required. However, City policy
is to obtain competitive quotes for purchases of this
nature.
Morelan pointed out that the actual improvements would
be finalized as time goes on, after justification is
submitted, and informal quotes obtained.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
Page 17
