P(iN[TPES
CITY COUNCIL
J"ANUARY 12, 1994
The Administrator replied that no additional work
stations are being requested, just the upgrade of the
existing stations.
Hanson asked if the file cabinet being requested would
be fire-rated.
Manville informed the Council that the type of
information that would be stored in the file cabinet
would not require the cabinet to be fire-rated.
Estimated cost of the cabinet is $400 to $500. That
cost increases to approximately $2,000 for a fire-rated
cabinet.
The Administrator reported that key records are stored
on back-up tapes with one copy of this tape stored
off-site.
Morelan reported that his firm recently did a study and
determined that in a sprinkled building the chances of
a fire demolishing documents does not justify the cost
of fire-rated filing cabinets.
The Administrator pointed out that one of the software
packages being requested would provide the City with a
direct link to County property records.
Scalze pointed out that the City Administrator's office
furnishings had been on the 10% listing and have now
been moved to the General Capital Improvement list.
Scalze asked if any other items had been moved.
The Administrator reported that the office furnishings
is the only item that has been transferred.
Scalze felt these furnishings were needed pointing out
that they will give the City Center a third conference
area. Scalze also felt the voice messaging system was
an important item.
The Administrator agreed pointing out the amount of
time required to take messages. The system would also
allow routine information to be recorded and accessed
by the general public.
Hanson pointed out that the Planning Commission
supports updating of the City's Comprehensive Plan.
The Administrator stated that the $17,500 cost shown in
the budget is based on the City Planner's estimate.
The Administrator pointed out the $10,000 included in
the CIP budget for a community survey. Decision
Resources estimated a cost of $7,500 based on the
number of question-units included in the survey. The
Page 5
