MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 24, 1994 <br />be reviewed as part of the process of updating Little <br />Canada's plan. <br />The Planner replied that part of the process will <br />include a review of the Comp Plans of all the <br />surrounding communities. <br />COMMUNITY The City Administrator noted that the Council/ <br />SURVEY Commission/Staff community survey focus group will <br />FOCUS meet on Tuesday, August 30th, at 7:30 P.M. at City <br />GROUP Hall. The Administrator pointed out the minutes of the <br />May 24, 1994 Council workshop meeting at which the <br />composition of that focus group was discussed. <br />Scalze reported that at a recent Community Pride <br />Committee meeting she invited the committee members to <br />attend the survey focus group meeting. Scalze reported <br />that she will clarify to the Committee the formal make- <br />up of the focus group, noting that committee members <br />would be welcomed as observers. <br />CODE Scalze reported that the recent reports on code <br />ENFORCEMENT enforcement activities have been very helpful, and <br />thanked the staff for their efforts. <br />The City Administrator reported that the Public Works <br />Superintendent, Kris VanSchoonhoven, and he had been <br />involved in recent code enforcement activities. Code <br />enforcement is currently being handled on a complaint <br />basis, rather than a pro-active basis. The <br />Administrator felt that pro-active code enforcement <br />could have a major impact on the appearance of the <br />community. The Administrator reported that he is <br />considering the option of hiring an intern to take over <br />these activities. <br />LaValle reported that the Cities of Blaine, Lexington, <br />and Circle Pines have Community Service Officers doing <br />code enforcement in addition to administering crime <br />watch programs. LaValle requested that City staff <br />contact Lexington to determine their costs in having a <br />CSO do their code enforcement. <br />ADJOURN Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />18 <br />
