MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 26, 1994
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Scalze, LaValle, Hanson, Morelan, Pedersen.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
RUTH STREET Council discussed the need for a neighborhood meeting
NEIGHBORHOOD Ruth Street property owners to discuss problems which
MEETING exist in that neighborhood. It was the consensus of
the Council that property owners abutting Ruth Street
should be invited. The meeting will be held on
Wednesday, November 2nd, at 7 P.M. at City Eiall. A
representative of the Sheriff's Department will be
present at the meeting to discuss the issues of
concern.
APARTMENT Scalze reported that the Community Pride Committee
OWNER5' has been discussing formation of an apartment owners'
COALITION coalition similar to those of other cities. This
coalition is a means of getting landlords together tc
discuss common issues and problems.
The City Administrator pointed out that the City would
take the lead in sponsoring the coalition initially.
The Administrator noted that information on this
concept had been distributed to the Council previously
in information update materials.
Scalze felt that once the coalition was up and running,
meetings would take place at the respective apartment
buildings on a rotating basis. The City would help to
steer the coalition.
Morelan noted that the proposal is for the Mayor and a
Council Member to attend coalition meetings. Morelan
suggested that since the City will have a new Mayor
shortly, perhaps the issue would wait until the input
of the new Mayor can be obtained.
Scalze stated that she would be willing to serve as the
Council Member representative.
Hanson suggested that the program get underway, and the
new Mayor updated on it after the election.
The City Administrator suggested that the date of the
first meeting be set based on what seems to work for
the participants.
28
