MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 9, 1994
Council's desire.
Morelan pointed out that if the Council decided one of
the items on the list was not needed, it would be nice
to know which of the unallocated items would then move
onto the list.
Scalze stated that she liked the process just as it is
and liked the idea of remaining funding requests being
unallocated. Scalze questioned why these items should
be allocated if the City doesn't have the dollars to
fund them. Scalze felt that the process worked, and
she liked the way the Committee functioned.
Morelan felt it would be nice to have the unallocated
items prioritized should the City receive more 10%
dollars.
Pedersen pointed out that if this is the case, the
Committee can always meet again in six months to
prioritize unallocated requests. Scalze agreed.
Pedersen pointed out that funding requests are on and
off the list due to a variety of circumstances, and
stated that he did not want to be locked into a list
since things change.
LaValle agreed that the l00 list must be flexible and
something that the Committee can continue to work on if
need be.
Morelan pointed out that the Fire Department's Fire
Prevention/50th Anniversary is next year, and suggested
that funding may be needed for this event.
The Fire Chief pointed out that funding for the Fire
Prevention/50th Anniversary was unallocated. However,
the Chief thought that the Fire Department's pull tab
operation would generate enough revenue to provide
funding for this item.
Morelan asked the next step in the process.
The City Administrator reported that the 10% Fund would
be put on the budget agenda, and the City Council will
then make a decision on which items are funded. The
budget document will be updated to include the
Committee's recommendation and show current fund
9
