MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVENIBER 30, 1994
will officially adopt the 1995 Budget at its December
21, 1994 regular meeting. That meeting will begin at
7:30 P.M. and will be held in the Council Chambers of
the City Center.
A resident asked for an explanation of the water charge
on utility bills.
Hanson reported that that charge is to pay for the cost
of maintenance on the City's water system. The charge
is also passed on to those properties which are not
connected to City water for maintenance of the lines in
proper working order until such time as they are ready
to connect.
It was also pointed out that the City purchases water
from the City of St. Paul, however, the water lines and
tower as owned by Little Canada. The City has looked
into the possibility of putting in its own well system
in order to keep costs down. However, there has not
been shown to be a significant cost savings in doing
so.
Remerowski pointed out that Vadnais Heights has its own
well system, and he has heard many complaints about
water quality.
Morelan pointed out that on the Truth In Taxation
Hearing Notices which property owners received in the
mail, it was indicated that the City was proposing a
3.3% net levy increase. That has now been reduced to a
0% increase. However, the effect on individual
property taxes depends on a host of different factors,
including what happens with the County and School
District levies.
There were no other comments from the general public
present.
Upon motion by LaValle, seconded by Pedersen, the
public hearing was closed.
There being no further business, the meeting was
adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
~ ~
G.
