MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />JULY 19, 1995 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop <br />meeting of the Council of the City of Little Canada, <br />Minnesota was held on the 19th day of July, 1995 in the <br />Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 <br />Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Michael Fahey chaired and called the meetinq to <br />order at 7:00 P.M. and the following members of the <br />Council were present at roll call: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Mr. Michael Fahey <br />Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle <br />Council Member Mr. Steve Morelan <br />Council Member Mr. Bob Pedersen <br />Council Member Mrs. Beverly Scalze <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Admin. Mr. Joel Hanson <br />Admin. Asst. Mrs. Kathy Glanzer <br />RICE STREET Michael Schroeder, Hoisington Koegler Group, <br />STUDY distributed a draft vision statement for the Rice <br />Street/Little Canada Road area as well as some guiding <br />principles for the redevelopment process. Schroeder <br />suggested that the participants review this <br />information, and be prepared to discuss it at the next <br />workshop scheduled for Monday, July 31st. <br />Schroeder reported that this evening he will present a <br />series of concepts for how the Rice Street/Little <br />Canada Road area might develop. Some of the concepts <br />shown might work, while others might not. <br />Identification of what does work will give the <br />consultants direction for shaping the plans. Schroeder <br />reported that the plans will be redrawn and brought <br />back to the July 31st workshop at which they will be <br />reviewed again. The financial forces of the project <br />will also be discussed at that workshop. <br />Mary Bujold, Maxfield Research, stated that she will <br />present a broad brush overview of some of the factors <br />that are being looked at which will go into assisting <br />the planning stages from a marketing perspective. The <br />areas being looked at are housing, retail, and office. <br />Final recommendations are not goinq to be delivered <br />this eveninq, but the information presented will give a <br />sense of where that final recommendation is headed. <br />Bujold presented a map showinq where the majority of <br />Little Canada's housing market comes from.
