MIN[JTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />NOVEPSBER 22, 1995 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop <br />meeting of the Council of the City of Little Canada, <br />Minnesota was held on the 22nd day of November, 1995 in <br />the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 <br />Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Michael Fahey chaired and called the meeting to <br />order at 6:35 P.M. and the following members of the <br />Council were present at roll call: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Mr. Michael Fahey <br />Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle <br />Council Member Mr. Steve Morelan <br />Council Member Mr. Bob Pedersen <br />Council Member Mrs. Beverly Scalze <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Admin. Mr. Joel Hanson <br />Admin. Asst. Mrs. Kathy Glanzer <br />CITY The purpose of this evening's workshop is to conduct <br />ADMINIS- the City Administrator~s annual performance <br />TRATOR'S evaluation. <br />EVALUATION Fahey asked if feedback was solicited from <br />subordinates, commenting that this input is a good tool <br />for personal development. <br />The Administrator replied that as part of last year's <br />evaluation, subordinates were asked to complete <br />evaluation forms. These were then summarized and the <br />summary provided to the Council. The Administrator <br />also reported that as part of Don Salverda's management <br />seminar, subordinates were asked to do evaluations of <br />his performance. The Administrator reported that he <br />has an open-door policy, and most subordinates have not <br />hesitated to approach him with concerns they might <br />have. <br />Fahey asked if compensation was tied to the performance <br />evaluation. <br />The City Administrator responded that compensation has <br />not been directly linked to the performance review. <br />However, compensation has been used to reward exemplary <br />performance as well as increases withheld in instances <br />of unsatisfactory performance. <br />Morelan pointed out that one of the Administrator's <br />goals is to tie compensation more closely with <br />1 <br />
