MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 19~ 1996
infiltration problem and showed a video which
demonstrates the problem. Another part of the problem
is the connection of sump pumps to the City's sanitary
sewer system. The Director indicated that the
Metropolitan Wast Commission estimates that 30% of
Little Canada's sanitary sewer flows are ground water.
Eliminating 20 million gallons of this flow would
result in a savings of approximately $27,000 per year
in treatment charges. The Director reported that he
will be bring recommendations to the Council in the
future on options for addressing sump pump connections
and corrections to the sanitary sewer system to
eliminate ground water infiltration problems.
Council reviewed the Water and Sewer Capital
Replacement Fund. The Administrator reported that
costs of repairs, televisinq of the sanitary sewer
system, and inspections of sump pumps have been
programmed into this budget.
Council reviewed the Gambling Enforcement Fund, and it
was noted that the fund has an adequate balance for the
next few years. Therefore, the Gambling Enforcement
Tax will not be collected during 1997.
The City Administrator reminded the general public that
the City will hold its Truth In Taxation Hearing on
Tuesday, December 3, 1996 at 7 P.M. at the City Center.
There being no further business, the workshop was
adjourned.
.t~.~l1 ~.~--~-_
Miclael I.
