MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 22~ 1997
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen.
Ayes (5) Scalze, Pedersen, Fahey, Morelan, LaValle.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
The City Administrator reported that he has been
discussing with the City Engineer sodding versus
seeding with regard to turf restoration as part of
improvement projects. The Administrator reported that
there are advantages and disadvantaqes with either
option. The estimated cost savings for the Arcade
Street project if turf restoration was through
reseeding is $30,000. Given the 4,500 lineal feet of
£rontage, the cost savings is over $6 per foot. The
City Administrator recommended that reseeding be bid as
an alternate. If the cost savings justifies
discussion, the Administrator recommended that a
neighborhood meeting be held to determine if the
property owners are interested in the reseeding option.
Morelan asked who would realize the cost savings under
the City's current assessment policy.
The Administrator replied that it would depend on where
bids come in in relation to the assessment cap. The
Administrator suggested that the City could also
consider sharing any cost-savings that might be
realized with the property owners.
Council was agreeable to the seeding option being bid
as an alternate.
ROSEVILLE Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
CIRCULATOR moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 97-1-28 - INSTRUCTING STAFF TO REFER THE
ROSEVILLE CIRCULATOR PETITION TO THE METROPOLITAN
COUNCIL
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen.
Ayes (5) LaValle, Pedersen, Morelan, Fahey, Scalze.
Nays (0).
