MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />FEBRUARY 20~ 1997 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop <br />meeting of the City Council of the City of Little <br />Canada, Minnesota was held on the 20th day of February, <br />1997 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located <br />at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Michael I. Fahey called the meeting to order at <br />6:35 P.M. and the following members of the City Council <br />were present at roll call: <br />CITY COUNCIL: <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />Mayor Mr. <br />Council Member Mr. <br />Council Member Mr. <br />Council Member Mr. <br />Council Member Mrs. <br />City Admin. Fahey <br />Bob Pedersen <br />Jim LaValle <br />Steve Morelan <br />Beverly Scalze <br />Joel Hanson <br />Gene DeLonais <br />Michael Schroeder <br />Kathy Glanzer <br />DEVELOPER The purpose of this evening's workshop meeting is to <br />INTERVIEWS continue developer interviews for the Rice Street <br />Little Canada Road area. <br />INTERVIEW Mr. Wally Johnson, Kestrel Properties, and Mr. Jim <br />#9 - Rutzick appeared before the Council to discuss <br />KE3TREL redevelopment of the Rice Street/Little Canada Road <br />PROPERTIES area. Rutzick reported that as developers they are <br />small and focused, and only become involved in projects <br />they can see through to completion. Rutzick reported <br />that Johnson is very experienced in housing projects. <br />Rutzick has experience in retail, commercial, housing <br />and redevelopment. They also own a piece of property <br />in the area which they would like to see developed. <br />Rutzick further reported that they have been discussing <br />development options with The Venetian Inn, and also <br />have a bank committed to develop a complete banking <br />facility in the area. <br />Johnson pointed out that they began redevelopment a <br />number of years ago with the development of Lakeside <br />Apartments, and would like the opportunity to complete <br />the process. Johnson pointed out that there is an <br />excellent market for senior market-rate housing, and <br />his firm has a strong housing background. <br />1 <br />
