MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 26~ 1997 <br />Morelan pointed out that appraisals are merely <br />guesstimates of a property's value. Morelan felt that <br />splitting the difference between asking price and <br />appraised value was a fair approach. The appraisal may <br />have been too high. <br />The City Administrator pointed out that there is no <br />immediate need for the City to acquire this parcel. He <br />also reported that he informed the property owner that <br />if replacement housing is not available at a comparable <br />price, perhaps the property owner should retain the <br />property at this time. <br />LaValle pointed out that the City has a limited amount <br />of money to work with, and suggested that the City's <br />priorities at this point should be the Rice <br />Street/Little Canada Road redevelopment area. <br />It was the consensus of the Council to stand firm on <br />its initial offer for 2944 Condit Street. <br />EXEMPTION Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and <br />FROM moved its adoption: <br />GAMBLING <br />LICENSE - RESOLUTION N0. 97-2-50 - APPROVING THE EXEMPTION FROM <br />DUCK3 LAWFUL GAMBLING LICENSE AS REQUESTED BY DUCKS UNLIMITED <br />UNLIMITED FOR RAFFLES ON APRIL 16 AND 30, 1997 AT THE VENETIAN <br /> INN PENDING RECEIPT OF SATISFACTORY SHERIFF~S <br /> DEPARTMENT BACKGROUND CHECKS <br /> The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen. <br /> Ayes (4) LaValle, Pedersen, Morelan, Scalze. <br /> Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />BINGO HALL LaValle reported that one of the gambling managers at <br /> the Little Canada Bingo Hall has informed him of <br /> vandalism problems in the north parking lot at the <br /> Marketplace Shopping Center. LaValle asked that the <br /> Sheriff~s Department be contacted about additional <br /> patrolling of this area. LaValle also asked for a copy <br /> of incident reports for the property. <br /> Pedersen asked when the next meeting with the Sheriff~s <br /> Department would occur. <br /> The City Administrator reported a meeting will be <br /> scheduled as soon as the Sheriff's Department has goals <br /> and objectives established for the new Crime Prevention <br /> Officer. <br />Scalze suggested the Sheriff's Department be asked if <br />18 <br />
