If you support a community gathering space, what property tax increase would you
support?
Would you rent space in the community building and what capacity would you like to
have?
Results of this survey were presented alongside the entirety of the survey results at the February
26, 2025 Council meeting.
STRATEGIC PLANNING
At the City of Little Canada’s 2025-2030 Strategic Planning sessions, one key takeaway included
the ability to Deliver Dynamic Community Spaces. Little Canada desires to connect the
community by linking trails and sidewalks and creating a community building for public
gatherings. A city places a high value on keeping a small town feel and sense of community. One
goal from this objective is to construct a community gathering space.
PRELIMINARY PROJECT SCHEDULE
2024 – Resident engagement (continued engagement will occur throughout the project)
2025 – Community Building TAC
2026 – Design and engineering
2027 – Project construction
NEXT STEPS
The Parks & Recreation Director is proposing the establishment of a Community Building TAC
to begin meeting on a monthly basis. Meetings will have specific themes to promote focused
discussion.
FORMATION
The TAC will be made up of the following members:
2 City Council Members
4 City Staff to include the Parks and Recreation Director, Parks Maintenance Supervisor,
Recreation Coordinator and Acting City Administrator
5 Commission Members
Several Community Members
City staff is currently soliciting community members to apply to join the TAC. Current members
of the TAC will review applicants and select several to join the committee. A strong applicant
will be able to attend evening meetings, be actively engaged, engage residents, keep groups
informed and have a good grasp of the current parks and recreation system & current parks and
recreation trends.
PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION SUPPORT
The Parks and Recreation Commission reviewed and supported the proposed Community
Building TAC strategy at their April 3 meeting.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommends establishing a Community Building Technical Advisory Committee.
